How Our Custom Furniture is Made
Inside the Headboards World Workshop: From Frame to Finish
At Headboards World, we believe the best furniture starts with the process — not just the end result.
While mass-produced pieces rely on prebuilt frames and templates, everything we make is built from the ground up, right here in Addison, Texas. Whether it’s a custom bed, daybed, or banquette, each piece goes through a series of handcrafted steps that combine structure, comfort, and personal style.
Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at how your furniture is made — and why it matters.
Step 1: Design & Planning
Every piece starts with your vision — and the perfect fabric.
Whether you’re customizing a bed, daybed, or banquette, the process begins with a conversation. Once your quote is confirmed, our team guides you through sizing, design details, and fabric selection.
Every design is then mapped out with measurements, fabric placement, and any custom elements like piping, tufting, pleated skirts, or trims.

We offer a curated collection of designer upholstery fabrics, from velvets and linens to performance textures and faux leathers — or you can supply your own. We’ll help you choose the right fabric based on your style, comfort preferences, and how the piece will be used.

Step 2: Frame Construction
No shortcuts here. Our carpenters build each frame from kiln-dried hardwood using time-tested joinery methods. These aren’t pre-made shells — they’re solid, made-to-measure structures that become the foundation for your piece.

Step 3: Fabric Cutting & Sewing
Once your fabric is in hand, our cutters carefully lay out and cut every panel. We consider pattern direction, symmetry, centering, and design flow so the final look is balanced and refined — no crooked florals or off-center stripes here.
Our seamstresses take over next — This is where the clean lines you love really take shape

Step 4: Upholstery
This is the moment it all comes together. Foam is shaped, fabric is pulled and stapled, and every curve is tightened or softened to meet the design intent. Corners are sculpted. Backs are smoothed. Comfort meets craftsmanship.

Step 5: Finishing Touches
Before your piece leaves our shop, we do a full quality check. Skirts are steamed, trims are straightened, and hardware or legs are installed. If anything’s off, we fix it before it gets wrapped.

Step 6: Delivery or Freight
Before your order leaves our warehouse, it goes through packaging process to ensure it arrives safe, and protected. Foam Sheets, Edge Guards, Labeled, and Prepped for Perfect Shipping.

This process might sound long — and that’s the point. Custom furniture should be crafted, not rushed. When you choose Headboards World, you’re investing in a piece made with skill, intention, and pride.
We’re not just selling furniture — we’re building it for you.
